Part 7: The Beauty of Creation

From the dark alleyway you are ushered into a theatre and shown a “dramatic reading of Genesis II”. The reading also included beautiful pictures of what was created on each day. Along with the sea creatures, there were trilobites and sea-dwelling dinosaurs. Archaeopteryx flew along with the other sky animals. The dinosaurs roamed the earth with the rest of the land animals. It ended with a beautiful silhouette of Adam and Eve and a brachiosaurus.

You were then escorted into a beautiful, bright, colorful, happy room (especially in comparison to the alley we had been in). This was the room of creation. The pictures were exquisite.

Creation Room

The Central Columns

I found it very interesting that they had the original Hebrew here. Also, because the word for “day” (Yom), which appeared in Hebrew during the video, is not in there anywhere.

There were also several videos going on in this room. A couple of the videos were simply of the beauty of creation, and the awesomeness of variation and behavior. At least two of these films actually used clips from PBS’s Walking With Dinosaurs, which made us wonder about the legality of those showings. Another of the videos was explaining why a literal meaning of creation was necessary in the Christian faith, and in the world. It said that if the first eleven chapters of the Bible are not true, then Christianity would collapse. Therefore, we have to believe in the six day creation of there will be no more Christianity. This was interesting to me, since I know many Christians who do not take the Bible literally but still practice their faith and believe that Christ was the savior (I always thought that that was what held Christianity together, not the first eleven chapters of the Old Testament). I would also like to point out that most Jewish people do not take the Old Testament literally, and it has not destroyed their religion. They see it as a way of interpreting things that the people of those days could never understand as we do today. This video also reintroduces the idea of God’s Word against man’s fallible thoughts. If we believe in man and man’s discoveries, then they could always be wrong, whereas God never is. Even in the short Christian teachings that I received as a child, I was never told that God wrote the Bible. It was also described to me as “divine inspiration”. God inspired the prophets, who wrote the stories in their words to be able to help others to understand. I do not understand why God wouldn’t have been a lot more specific if he was writing it him, since he is omniscient.

A Special Garden

Nothing too crazy yet… Oh wait, there’s a penguin. A jackass penguin, no less.

And God said let there be strategically places animals, and there were.

Oh, there is the dinosaur…

And the dinosaurs ate plants. It is interesting that this one is trying desperately to gnaw through some bark…

It really hurt to see my favorite dinosaur here in the Garden of Eden. Of course, I did notice a blatant lack of early mammals. Where are the synapsids or the glyptodonts or saber toothed cats?

Adam and Eve sit happily in the canopy as the creation museum explains to us the bond between man and women and make sure to push an anti-gay marriage message.

In Case You Missed It

And Adam and Eve lived under the tree of life. Nothing died, all was eternal.

And Adam and Eve walked with God, and everyone was happy and uninformed.

And one last dinosaur, just for good measure.
